Back to Basics Method

Healing is rarely a straight line. Some seasons of life require us to pause, revisit earlier steps, and continue growing from a stronger foundation. At Back to Basics Counseling, the Back to Basics Method serves as a flexible roadmap rather than a rigid path. Together, we'll move through these five guiding principles using evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to your unique needs and goals.
🌿 REFLECT
Understand Your Story
Healing begins with awareness. Together we'll explore your experiences, emotions, beliefs, and patterns with compassion, not judgment, to better understand how your past has shaped your present.
Using evidence-based approaches such as Person-Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we'll identify unhelpful thinking patterns, recognize personal strengths, and gain deeper insight into the experiences that have influenced your life.🌿 RENEW
Restore Hope and Perspective
Once we understand where you've been, we begin creating healthier ways of thinking, responding, and coping. This stage focuses on building hope, emotional resilience, and confidence.
Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-Based interventions, we'll learn practical strategies to manage anxiety, depression, overwhelming emotions, and everyday stress while helping you reconnect with your values and purpose.🌿 REBUILD
Create a Stronger Foundation
Growth happens through intentional change. Together we'll develop practical tools and healthier habits that support lasting emotional wellness and stronger relationships.
This stage often incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, Solution-Focused Therapy, and strengths-based interventions to improve emotional regulation, communication, problem-solving, boundaries, and resilience through life's challenges and transitions.🌿 RECONNECT
Rediscover What Matters Most
As healing continues, many people find themselves reconnecting with parts of themselves that have been overlooked or forgotten. This includes reconnecting with your identity, relationships, purpose, dreams, and, for those who desire it, your faith.
Through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person-Centered Therapy, family systems concepts, and relationship-focused approaches, we'll strengthen meaningful connections and build a life that reflects what matters most to you.🌿 RESTORE
Move Forward with Confidence
The goal of counseling isn't simply to feel better—it's to live with greater peace, confidence, resilience, and hope. Restoration means carrying the skills you've learned into everyday life while continuing to grow long after counseling ends.
Together we'll create a sustainable plan that supports continued growth, healthy relationships, emotional wellness, and lasting change. For clients who request it, Christian counseling and biblical principles may also be thoughtfully integrated into this stage as part of their healing journey.A Journey, Not a ChecklistHealing isn't linear. There will be seasons of growth, moments of rest, and times when we revisit earlier steps. Every journey is unique, and lasting change often happens one faithful step at a time. As Isaiah reminds us:
🦅"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
— Isaiah 40:31
Whether you're taking your first step or finding your footing again, you don't have to walk the journey alone.

BIO

I believe every woman has a story worth hearing, a purpose worth rediscovering, and the strength to find her way back to what matters most.

Life has taken me on a journey that has allowed me to live, learn, and work alongside people from many different cultures, backgrounds, and walks of life. Those experiences have shaped not only who I am as a counselor, but also how I see people; with curiosity, compassion, and the belief that every person has a story worth understanding.

🌿A Heart for Helping Others
Education and mental health have always been an important part of my journey. I earned my Master's degree in International Counseling from Lehigh University, building on my background in education and health.
🌿Experience That Shapes My Approach
Later, as a College Professor and Career Counselor at Lone Star College, I had the opportunity to mentor students as they developed life skills, explored career paths, and prepared for the future.
🌿Understanding Real Life
My husband and I also experienced the exciting, and often overwhelming, journey of entrepreneurship. Building a business while raising a family gave me firsthand insight into the pressures many women carry every day.
🌿A Global Perspective
Living and working internationally for more than a decade gave me the privilege of serving individuals and families from many different cultures and life experiences. Navigating new environments, building relationships across cultures, and witnessing both the joys and challenges people face around the world deepened my appreciation for the resilience of the human spirit. Those experiences continue to influence my counseling by helping me meet each client with openness, empathy, and genuine respect for their unique story.
🌿My Hope for You
Whether you're navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, parenting, life transitions, or simply feeling overwhelmed, my goal is to provide a safe place where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to move forward.

🌿Anxiety and Depression
Find support for overwhelming worry, sadness, low motivation, self-doubt, and emotional exhaustion. Counseling can help you understand what you are experiencing, develop healthy coping skills, and begin feeling more hopeful and in control.

🌿Teen Challenges
Adolescence can bring intense emotions, academic pressure, friendship difficulties, family conflict, and uncertainty about identity. Counseling provides teen girls with a safe, supportive space to feel heard, build confidence, and navigate challenges in healthier ways.

🌿Grief & Loss
Grief can follow the loss of a loved one, relationship, opportunity, sense of safety, or expected future. Counseling offers a compassionate place to process difficult emotions, honor what has been lost, and gradually move forward without feeling pressured to “get over it.”

🌿Life Transitions
Changes such as starting college, changing careers, becoming a parent, ending a relationship, relocating, or entering a new stage of life can feel unsettling. Counseling can help you adjust, clarify what matters most, and approach your next chapter with greater confidence.

🌿Digital Addiction
Excessive screen time, social media use, gaming, or constant phone checking can affect sleep, mood, relationships, school, and self-esteem. Counseling can help identify unhealthy patterns, establish realistic boundaries, and create a healthier relationship with technology.

🌿Group Counseling
Group counseling offers a supportive space to connect with others who may be facing similar experiences. Through guided conversation, shared learning, and encouragement, participants can develop new skills while realizing they are not alone.
